CHARACTER
Name: Kazuichi Souda
Canon: Super Dangan Ronpa 2
Age: Real: 18 / Apparent: 16
Timeline: End of Chapter 6

Personality:

There are a lot of words that could be used to describe Kazuichi Souda as an individual. The words he would like you to associate with him would be cool, calm, collected, and confident; in reality, he is only some of these things and often in short bursts. To people meeting him for the first time, as when the protagonist of Dangan Ronpa 2 first met with him, he seems less disturbed about being kidnapped and whisked away to some unknown island in the middle of nowhere than he is about there being no functioning vehicles for him to tinker on. However, once Monokuma and his game of mutual killing reared their ugly heads, not only did Kazuichi's mask break, it outright shattered. The news that only one person could leave the island by successfully murdering someone else and keeping their identity as the murderer secret secret sent him into outright hysterics and the prospect of being a victim himself had him jumping at shadows for practically the rest of the game.

However, despite being mostly skittish in the face of any real opposition, this doesn't mean that he's an outright coward. He displays no hesitation in speaking up against Hajime Hinata during class trials despite his constantly shown aptitude for backing up his points, and when it came to the affections of one Ms. Sonia Nevermind, he was more than willing to go toe to toe with Gundam Tanaka both verbally and physically, even shouting death threats at him during a class trial. That being said, he is also incredibly childish in that regard, especially when it comes to things he likes, specifically Sonia. He develops a fancy for her, despite it being fairly unrequited, and displays an intense jealously towards anyone he sees getting close to her, as displayed during free time events where he will openly interrogate Hajime about the time he spends with her. He also has a severe dislike for anything that is sugar free, further cementing his childlike behavior.

The only thing he seems to want more on the island than Sonia's attention seems to be just an engine to tinker on, claiming that working on vehicles puts his mind at ease; as the Ultimate Mechanic, it seems a reasonable statement to make. During a Free Time Event he claims to have a motorcycle at home that he has been constantly modifying himself and that by his calculations can reach speeds of 585 mph, although due to being susceptible to motion sickness leaves him unable to actually ride it. It's also stated in another Free Time Event that his ultimate dream is to one day work on or even build himself a rocket ship, stating them to be “at the top of the vehicle food chain”.

His entire personality seems to be a contrast from the person he is and the person he wants people to think he is, and the reason for this is actually quite sad. He was fairly bullied growing up, both at school and at home by his dad, mostly due to his deep kindness and trusting of everyone around them. As he himself says, he wanted to believe that even if someone did hurt or betray him, that they had a good reason for it, at least until he was practically abandoned by his best friend after he pinned the blame on Kazuichi after cheating off him on a test. After that, Kazuichi changed his entire look; dying his hair a neon pink, willingly filing his teeth down to razor points, and ditching his glasses for contacts. Along with his cosmetic changes, his usual friends started to distance themselves and he found himself more in the company of delinquents, which directly influenced his change in behavior from kind, trusting, and studious to what he is now.

Despite all of that though, if the player as Hajime chooses to complete all of the Free Time Events with Kazuichi, it's found that deep down, he's still that same kindly and trusting kid he always was and he's willing to put his full trust into Hajime without question, claiming that that's what it means to be a friend.

Background: Engine's Revving!

Abilities:

Separated from machinery, Kazuichi is pretty much your average teenager, perhaps a little stronger due to all his work with heavy machinery, but not by much. If you put him around anything even vaguely mechanical though, that's where his skills really begin to shine however. As the Ultimate Mechanic, there's really nothing mechanically related he can't tackle, although he is admittedly more apt at taking things apart than he is at putting them back together save for vehicles. He is however capable of modifying existing machinery with ease, once having attached a working engine to a Baseball Field Marker that sent it flying out of his school top speed and even threatened to turn Hajime's alarm clock into a time bomb in a fit of Sonia-related jealousy.

First Person:

[To say that he was freaking out right now would be an understatement. A very, very big understatement. The only comfort he seemed to be getting at this juncture was the device in his hand as he seemed to quickly grasp how to get it working; however, despite his attempts on the train, he hadn't been able to pry it open to see what made this strange watch tick, much to his chagrin. After a few more experimental button presses, his face popped up on the screen, his sharpened teeth bared and a look of clearly shot nerves painted across his face.]

C'mon you...is this thing workin'? So it's like...some kinda audio-visual device...?

[His nerves seemed to melt in the face of his curiosity as he brought an eye closer to the screen until that and the few times he tapped the screen were all that were visible.]

It's definitely broadcastin'...can anyone hear me? Anyone copyin' this?

[He pulled away a bit, his face pulled into a grimace as he waited for an answer, if only to see if it was a two-way device or if he was just talking to the air. At worst...he'd get no one, or one of the bastards who double-kidnapped him. At best? Maybe someone who could actually explain what in the blazing hells was actually going on here.]

Third Person:

No wait...no this wasn't fair. This wasn't right or fair, they'd won, right? Hajime and all of them had put that freaky witch down for good...! So, what in the blazing hells was he doing on a train all of a sudden? One minute he'd been in the middle of the class trial room...and then everything around him was shaking and bumping as the sound of a locomotive filled his ears. He was visible shaking and had pulled his beanie down around his ears, holding on to it as he struggled to keep a cap on his emotions as they fought to explode outwards. “Nah...nonono...this is just another messed up thing, right? This ain't real...right?”

The bell sounding their arrival at the station practically caused him to scream, but with nowhere else to go and with nothing working in waking him from whatever twisted nightmare this was, his only choice was to disembark. With his sharp teeth grit hard together and his arms wrapped protectively around himself, he stepped off the train and looked around nervously, trying his best to keep from fully breaking down; it helped that he was surrounded by the smell of oil from the train, as strange as it was, the familiar scent put him at ease and allowed him to take a few deep breaths before he stood with his back straight.

C'mon Kazuichi...ain't gonna do ya any good t'break down here...if this ain't no dream...then I might as well figure it out.” he said with a small nod to affirm his muttering. He strode out further onto the platform, managing to only flinch a little as the train gave it's final whistle and carried on down it's tracks. After a few minutes, he managed to find a poster plastered to a wall and upon closer inspection, he found that it read 'You have now entered Ruby City.” in big, bold letters. “Ruby City...?” he said, tilting his head to the side, “Ain't no place I ever heard of...and jus' what's bumpin' around in here?” he finished, shoving a hand inside his jumper and pulling out the pocket watch he'd found in his jumper on the train.

He thought to maybe give opening it another try...but after losing one small screwdriver to whatever metal this was...he figured it'd probably be safer to just try and see what those buttons on the side did. “Alright then...let's see whatall this thing can do.”
